September’s Artifact of the Month at the Wyoming State Museum is a trophy won by Vivian Lee, of Rawlins, at the 1938 Wyoming State Golf Championship.

Born in McGregor, Iowa in 1901, Vivian moved with her husband to Rawlins, in the early 1920s.

She was introduced to the game of golf by some friends in the 1930s, and the sport became a passion for Lee for the rest of her life. She lived to the age of 103 and, recalling the excitement of winning the championship, asked in her will that the trophy be given to the Wyoming State Museum.

The Wyoming State Museum is located at 2301 Central Avenue in Cheyenne. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is free.
