Wyoming State Museum’s Travelling Exhibit “Empire” is on its way to Beatrice, Neb.

This exhibit examines the history of African American ex-slave families who became homesteaders and farmers in the early 20th century. Starting in western Nebraska, they eventually founded the town of Empire, Wyoming..

The Museum makes traveling exhibits available to museums, libraries, schools, and other cultural institutions throughout the state of Wyoming. Our exhibits, which consist of photographic panels and text, allow local institutions to attract new visitors by highlighting various aspects of Wyoming history and culture..

The exhibit will be on display at the Homestead National Monument of America from January 1, 2019 to March 31, 2019. Please contact Robert Marcell at (402)223-3514 for more information..
