The Wyoming State Museum February Family Days event teaches children about art and the love of Wyoming, February 2.

Children and their families are invited to visit the Museum any time, February 2, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to participate in the program.

The State Museum will host special guest, Cheyenne fiber and folk artist Melanie Shovelski. Using very basic materials, Melanie’s work focuses on nature and movement.

“My work is inspired by my wanderlust, and Wyoming prairie and folklore. My goal is to pay tribute to the natural world, remind us to slow down, and help us reconnect with nature,” said Melanie.

Now in its sixth year, Family Days is a free program of the Wyoming State Museum, sponsored by Walmart, which provides children and their families with fun and educational opportunities to explore Wyoming’s natural and cultural resources.

Family Days is held the first Saturday of the month, October through May, at the Wyoming State Museum. Each month’s program has a different theme and activities are geared towards young children and their families. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Wyoming State Museum is located at 2301 Central Avenue in Cheyenne. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Admission to the Museum and all of its education programming is free.
